Italian Recipes ideas

** Recipe style : Italian

With antipasti we would probably drink a dry Italian white wine such as Soave, Pinot griggio. Also a light Italian red would do, such as a Dolcetto, Franciacorta or a young chianti. With french wines, try an Alsace Pinot gris or a red grenache from Languedoc.

The Insalata mista offers a festival of tomatoes, endives, olives and greens enhanced by the fragrance of basil. As with any salads, we would recommend a dry light white wine such as Sylvaner or a rosé wine.

The taste of the crispy deep fried squids will be enhanced by the salt of the anchovies, the buttery of the avocado and the sour of the black olives. Given this combination I would settle for a very cool , dry or slightly fruity white wine. Either an Italian Pinot Griggio, an Alsace Riesling or a Muscadet.

A lentil dish like this one will call for a sturdy grenache or syrah red wine from the Languedoc or the Rhone valley. As an Italian dish, I would give all honors back to Italy matching it to a Valpolicella.

Gnocchi di spinacchi go equally well with a red or a white wine. My preference would go for a red Italian wine such as a Valpolicella or a chilled Italian white from Friuli.
